PILPG Comments on the International Criminal Court Office of the Prosecutor’s Policy Initiative to Advance Accountability for Gender Persecution under the Rome Statute

The Public International Law & Policy Group appreciates this opportunity to provide comments in response to the Office of the Prosecutor’s call for public consultation on a new policy to advance accountability for gender persecution under the Rome Statute.

The Office of the Prosecutor’s initiative demonstrates its continued commitment to developing a more gender-inclusive approach, draws needed attention to the serious but often overlooked crime of persecution on gender grounds, and builds on the important goals outlined in the Office of the Prosecutor’s 2014 Policy Paper on Sexual and Gender-Based Crimes. We welcome the OTP’s call for engagement with its policy on gender persecution and are pleased to be part of the discussion on the scope of the forthcoming policy.
