Piracy Working Group
The Piracy Working Group is comprised of two-dozen leading experts from academia, government, and PILPG’s law firm affiliates. Its mandate is to provide legal and policy advice to domestic, regional, and international counter-piracy mechanisms, with the goal of helping to create effective responses to the growing piracy threat. This initiative builds on PILPG’s assistance to the Kenya Piracy Court over the past year.
As part of this project, PILPG publishes the “Piracy News Update,” a biweekly electronic newsletter that will keep subscribers informed of piracy-related developments around the world. If you would like to receive the Piracy News Update in the future, please click here.
In addition, PILPG and members of the Piracy Working Group prepare resource documents on issues related to piracy. A detailed list of documents pertaining to countering piracy and related crimes off the coast of Somalia may be found here.
